The Lake County Stallions Board is monitoring the on-going developments related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The safety and wellness of all Stallions players, coaches, and volunteers, is our top priority.
All Stallions teams, except Flag Football, are part of a larger governing program. Tackle Football is part of The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL); Cheerleading is part of the Illinois Recreational Cheer Association (IRCA); Boy’s and Girl’s Lacrosse is part of the Illinois Boys Lacrosse Association (IBLA) and Illinois Lacrosse League (ILL) respectively.
We are in communication with these leagues and will adhere to any new guidelines set in place for their sports programs as it relates to the safety and health of our players.
Q. Who decides what restrictions/guidelines (i.e. masks, gloves, limited contact)?
A. Each Stallion sport, apart from Flag Football, is part of a larger league. The respective league for each sport gives our Organization its guidelines and modifications of practices and competitions. Flag Football is an In-House program in the Summer and part of a loose association of local Flag Football programs in the Spring. Our organizations must follow State-mandated guidelines.
Q. If the Cheer or Tackle Football season is modified either in length or in the manner of play (i.e. additional protective equipment, shortened season) will there be a cost difference?
A. The Lake County Stallions is a not-for-profit organization and therefore the costs that are charged to participate in a sport are directly related to the costs of participation in the league. Unless the leagues for Football and Cheer lower the costs to the Stallions as a whole, we would be forced to charge the exact same price.
Q. What if there are no practice facilities available for Cheer?
A. The safety of our participants is paramount. The use of mats in tumbling and for general safety is necessary. Without appropriate indoor practice facilities, we would be unable to participate in this season.
Q. If the IHSA either cancels Fall Football or postpones it to the Spring, does that mean that the TCYFL will also cancel or postpone to the Spring?
A. As it pertains to canceling, the short answer is yes. As it pertains to moving to Spring, the answer is that it would be extremely unlikely, but a possibility. We have been in communication with the TCYFL and they have provided as much detailed information as possible. The TCYFL is certainly awaiting the decision from the IHSA.
Q. If Cheer, Tackle Football, or Flag Football season is canceled will we receive a refund?
A. We will issue full refunds if a program is canceled.
Q. If seasons do proceed in some form, what can I do to help?
A. We have all been part of youth organizations long enough to understand that without volunteer support, the Stallions could not operate. If seasons proceed under whatever increased restrictions and guidelines, so will the need for volunteers increase. We would need volunteers more than ever to ensure that all guidelines and mandates were being maintained.
We appreciate your understanding as schedules and seasons slide to adjust. We will continue to share information throughout the days and weeks ahead.
Sincerely, Lake County Stallions Board
