PROGRAMS
Our Cheerleading program is broken down by age and grade, Kindergarten thru 8th grade. The team composition changes from year to year, depending on enrollment figures. Teams for 2025 will depend on enrollment numbers in each grade.
ELIGIBILITY
All athletes, boys and girls ages 5 through 14 (grades K thru 8th), are eligible to participate in the Cheer program with the exception of those who have graduated from eighth grade or turn age 15 prior to September 1 of the current year.
ICA SUMMER CAMP
We will once again be offering the opportunity for our 6-8th grade teams to attend a summer camp being offered by the ICA. More specific info on this camp will be included in the Fall season registration.
CHEER UNIFORMS & OPTIONAL SPRING FUNDRAISING
The 2025 season will be the second and final year with our current cheer uniforms. New athletes to the program will need to purchase the uniform at the time of registration and attend a uniform fitting for sizing. The cost of the uniform is $200. The cost will cover the full set, which is a uniform top and skirt (for girls)/pants (for boys). Returning athletes must attend a uniform fitting to confirm fit. Parents will need to accompany their child at uniform fittings to sign off on sizes.
PARENT INFORMATION MEETING
We will hold a virtual parent meeting on Tuesday, May 13th at 7 pm. More information will be sent by your coach once registration closes and teams are finalized.
STALLIONS CHEER HANDBOOK
Please read through this (found on our web page), as you will be required to sign off that you have read it during the registration process. We will be following stricter guidelines with attendance policies for practices this year.
CHEER MATS
The LCS is the proud owner of two full sets of regulation-size and quality cheer mats. All LCS cheer squads are scheduled to practice on these mats.
PRACTICE
Every team will practice 2-3 days per week. Typically twice during the week (either M/W or Tu/Th), and all teams will practice on Saturdays (once school starts). Based on practice location this is subject to change potentially including a Friday or Sunday practice for some teams. Schedules will be updated as soon we confirm practice space.
PRACTICE LOCATIONS
Practice location is in progress. Updates will be provided as practice space is secured.
CHEER SHOES
Your athlete will be required to wear cheer shoes when she/he is participating in the sport of cheer. For safety reasons, we cannot allow any other types of shoes to be worn. Two pairs of shoes are required for the season, a pair that can be worn for practices and football games and a pair that will INDOOR ONLY shoes and be worn for competitions. Any all-white, clean cheer shoe is acceptable. More information about shoes and where to purchase will be posted on our website.
FOOTBALL GAMES
Our cheer teams will be cheering at Lake County Stallions home football games. All home games will be played at Behm Homestead Park field in Fremont Township. The football season will begin the end of August, extending through early November. We will share game schedules as soon as they are available. Cheering at football games is not optional and is a mandatory team commitment. We use this time to support our football teams and strengthen the skills the athletes learn at practice.
COMPETITIONS
Cheer competitions will begin this year in late September and are held in the Chicagoland area. Competitions are mandatory. For the 2025 season, we will be attending three competitions and potentially attending the ICA State Championship.
FALL FUNDRAISER
We will be doing a Fall fundraiser this year. You can choose whether you wish to participate in the fundraiser or if you prefer to “buy out” and not fundraise. To “buy out,” you will need to pay $100 at the time of registration. You will mark your preference on your registration form.
The LCS Cheer program has been a successful program for many years. Many of our older girls and boys go on to cheer at our local high schools and we are proud to say that many of the 2023/2024 cheerleaders are at Mundelein High School, Carmel Catholic High School, Stevenson High School, Vernon Hills High School and even Grayslake High School, came thru the LCS program. In addition, you can also find our former cheerleaders cheering at the following colleges: University of WI @ Madison, University of WI @ Green Bay, College of Lake County, Eastern IL University, IL State University, Northern IL University, University of IL, Illinois State University, MIZZOU, Purdue University, and Elon University. The LCS Cheer program is a great place to cheer and grow as a cheerleader, and we have fun while we learn and perform.
Please feel free to email with any questions or comments.
